Establishment of Commercial Durian Plot in ATP Jeli Campus

A 3 acres commercial durian plot was established on 27th October 2023 in ATP Jeli Campus. The commercial durian plot was officiated by UMK Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research and Innovation), Prof. Ts. Dr. Arham Bin Abdullah. The commercial durian plot was planted with 100 plants which consists of 3 main popular commercial durian cultivars, namely Musang King, IOI, and Black Thorn. The trees are expected to mass produce on the year 2028 and it will become one of the most impactful projects in UMK that helps to generate income to the university.

 

 

Establishment of Coconut Germplasm Plot in ATP Bachok Campus

A 5 acres coconut germplasm plot was established on 7th February 2024 in ATP Bachok Campus. The coconut plot was officiated by UMK Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research and Innovation), Prof. Ts. Dr. Arham Bin Abdullah. The germplasm plot is planted with 5 different cultivars of coconut for the time being and will be added more in the future to serve as reference for the local industry.

 

New Batch of Quail (Burung Puyuh) Production in ATP Jeli Campus

A new batch of quail production (1000 quails) was initiated in ATP UMK Jeli Campus. This batch of quail production will be available in mid-August 2021. Besides quail meat for sale, quail eggs will be produced and for sale too. So stay tuned for the fresh quail meat and eggs in mid-August 2021!

 

First Batch Production of Fresh Rock Melon in ATP Bachok Campus

A new batch of rock melon production using fertigation system was initiated in ATP UMK Bachok Campus. This fertigation system was adopted to increase the absorption and utilization of nutrient sources by plants more efficiently and can reduce the risk of nutrient leaching that commonly occurs if planted on the ground. New Duck Eggs Production in ATP Jeli Campus

ATP has initiated a new project of Khaki Campbell ducks breeding programme at ATP UMK Jeli Campus. A total of 100 ducks had been introduced to the ATP farm for teaching and learning to students and lecturers, as well as income generation to university. Harvesting and Selling of Coconuts in ATP Bachok Campus

A livestock breeding training video recording session was held by a lecturer of the Faculty of Agro Based Industry (FIAT) with a invited ecturer from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Prof. Prof. Dr. Mashitah in relation to the methods of diagnosis of goat pregnancy by using ‘ultrasound scanner’ approach, collecting goat's semen samples, and analyzing the sperm of the livestock. The training session provides a significant knowledge and training to the lecturers and staffs in UMK.

 

Harvesting and Selling of Coconuts in ATP Bachok Campus

The harvesting of old coconuts was carried out in ATP UMK Bachok Campus. This harvesting process was carried out in two (2) days to collect all the coconuts in UMK Bachok Campus. At the end of the day, ATP had collected a total of 202 large old coconuts and 108 small old coconuts. The total revenue generated from the selling of coconut was RM 256.00

 

 

Selling of Fresh Vegetables and Traditional Salad (Ulaman)

The ATP Jeli Campus had carried out the selling of vegetables and traditional salad (ulaman) around UMK Jeli Campus. The response was very astounding the total revenue generated was RM 86.00.

 

 

Selling of Fresh Quail Meat (Daging Burung Puyuh)

The ATP Jeli Campus had carried out the sale of vegetables and traditional salad (ulaman) around UMK Jeli Campus. The response obtained from the selling of fresh quail meat was very supportive and responding. the total revenue generated was RM 86.00.

 

 

 

Opening Ceremony of ATP UMK Durian Germplasm and Secret Garden

The inauguration of UMK's durian germplasm and secret garden was officiated by State Government Exco member Ustaz Tuan Mohd Saripudin Tuan Ismail as the Chairman of the Kelantan State Agricultural Technology Biotechnology and Environmental Technology Biotechnology Industry Agriculture Committee. Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) intends to make the durian germplasm construction project at Agro Techno Park (ATP) as the reference and research center for the largest durian collection in Kelantan. The project was implemented at UMK Jeli Campus involving the planting of more than 30 durian varieties in the durian germplasm construction plot in an area of five acres.
